Full Story

Formed in 2001 in Oulu, Finland, AKMA spent their early years honing a distinctive sound that would eventually carve their own lane in the Scandinavian metal landscape. By 2011, the band solidified their sonic identity with the release of the critically acclaimed Medusa demo. The title track quickly grabbed international attention, earning a spot on Metal Hammer’s worldwide compilation of the year's best unsigned metal acts, followed by Inferno Magazine crowning it Demo of the Month in May 2012.

AKMA entered the studio in 2013 to record their debut full-length album, but life intervened and the group entered an extended hiatus later that year. Thirteen years later, the beast was reawakened. In 2026, AKMA announced their official return with a revamped, powerhouse line-up—welcoming social media drum virtuoso Elo Malila and Chicken Man.

Their long-awaited debut album, 19-1-20-1-14, finally saw the light of day on February 13, 2026, receiving airplay on Finnish national radio (YleX's Raskain terveisin Kjell). The band has since unleashed two music videos for "Medusa" and "Law Of The Pack".

Self-described as an "ultra-metal" outfit, AKMA’s trademark formula relies on blistering blast beats, ferocious guitar work, and massive, pant-wetting hooks. Currently preparing for upcoming live dates, the band is already writing material for their next EP, scheduled for recording in Autumn 2026.
